Most people on the computer don't mean to become pirates. They just want to try a program out first. I'm talking about with no restrictions or limitations; sometimes they only use the program a few times a month. Better safe when spending potentially hundreds of dollars.

You don't have to break the law to get the soft ware that you need! Read on to find out how.

You need at least 10 gigs free on hard drive; to install Ubuntu, a Linux base Operating system.

Ubuntu has soft ware repositories' on the Internet, they are connected to an add and remove programs interface in the menu. Just type the name of the program that you want into the search field and bingo, you get a list of soft ware to pick from.
You can get rid of them just as easy. All you have to do is un-check the box next to the un-wanted program.

I can't believe all the free soft ware on the Linux based Operating system; including the Operating
System! You should be able to find anything that you can imagine, I mean anything!

I heard a guy on the radio the other night who was convinced that the hurricanes were created by the new world order; headed up by the skull & bones whose leader is Bush. Kerry was even involved. "That one was pretty funny", it's hard to get mad at that kind of thinking.

But clean it up just a bit and you can scare a whole planet into thinking it's going to overheat. "I strongly believe that people who wear tin foil hats shouldn't be asked for advice on global warming".

I've found another great free product! It's a sound editor called Audacity. It works great and is really super easy to use. Just try it out and see for your self.

The first thing to get is a good free ant-virus program. I like these listed here. among others. I trust these.

As far as free Anti virus programs go, these are some of the best ones that I have used.
I use Avast on my own computer.

Optimization made simple

Optimization of the computer sounds a lot more complicated than it really is; keep on reading to find out how easy it is to do you're self. You can save about a hundred bucks doing this for you're self instead of having Geek Squad or Fire dog do it.

First I like to start by uninstalling all the unneeded and trial crap. That means you need to go to the add and remove programs feature on you're computer. Next proceed in getting rid of all the programs that you don't want.

After the general house keeping is done navigate to Ccleaner ("Google is your friend") and download it.

Open Ccleaner and run it, in both settings. This will clean out most of the temporary files and cookies folders; among other things. I use it myself.

Now you need an auto start program manager; among other things, so navigate to this site to get all kinds of optimization soft ware for free Windows Sysinternals. I use this stuff all the time.

If you've been running windows for a while now you need to disable some auto starting programs.

I like to start with the Adobe updater and reader; they will start when they are called for, so will the others that you disable. When that's done I go for QuickTime and all the ITunes helper stuff. I also turn off the instant messengers. By this point you have removed a large start up burden from you're newly optimized computer, restart and make sure that things stayed off.

Between uninstalling unwanted soft ware and turning off some unneeded auto starting programs, you have sped up you're computing experience a bunch.

You can install full feature photo type applications and office soft ware at a later time; for free.

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.

If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the MapQuest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary.

Please look up your own number.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: Google (http://www.google.com/) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone who needs to know this.

I like to point out a good post and a good site once in a while. This Site is the Geek Site, it's one of mine where I keep all the geeky things. Here's a post from the Geek Site now.

kids are for the most part web 2.0 savvy. That means most kids can
use web based servers to store their pictures and E mails, among
other chit chat. I can see a problem on the parent end. They have no
idea that that part of the Internet exists. You gotta know! Make it
priority one! Get a good fire wall, like (Zone Alarm or something
similar). Set the kids browser to (trusted zones) only. Get anti spy
ware programs. (Spybot
and Lava Soft make free ones.) I use them

Along with the others.

Anti
spy-ware is important, but Anti Mal-ware and Anti-Virus are tops on
your well protected list of things to do. You can find quality free
ones on the Internet. With this
software (properly employed) you shouldn't have any trouble.

have good luck running the two anti spy scans on command. I use Avast
anti Virus. Zone Alarm is my Fire wall. Every thing runs smooth. Try

Actually the Bibs first
were made of hemp which made them strong and durable, The oompas would
not only wear them but they would smoke them to, and that would make
the oompas very hungry and they started eating all of the chocolate at
the factory, Well that cut into all the profit and the share holders
were not very happy, so now the bibs are made of cotton, and the oompas
are drug tested regularly.

Blogging software or blogger beware?
I have noticed a lot of ads for "blogging software". They claim that they can create blogs faster than they can be taken down and get your links on 1000's of sites. Stop rite there! Thats not blog software! "Thats splog software"! A splog is a spam blog. You must have ran into them? They are every where, like in the comments on your own blog, the ones that make no sense what so ever. You click on one of the links, just to see who wrote all that gibberish. Those links usually take you to a Viagra site or something like that. Yep those are the ones. If you want to be like them, get some blogging software and get black listed.

This is just an excerpt of an article I am working on.
Just some food for thought.

“As far as free Anti Spy ware programs go”.

These are a few of the best free ones I have used my self!

Every body likes Spybot search and destroy!

It’s an all time favorite!

Spybot Home page.

Microsoft anti spy ware is good for finding Trojans and other down loaders.

It doesn’t find cookies, but the other ones do. And it works nice too.

If you enable the active deal bob, it will even let you know what,

or who is trying to install stuff on you’re computer.

Another really good one that I use all the time is,

AdAware Personal SE

(Mal Ware) is another kind of nasty that likes to screw up things on you’re machine.

Other wise known as or called Trojans. These like to down load things into temp~

folders; things like installers! The down loaders down load on every boot

and the installers, install on every boot. Thats why you will see the same things show up,

scan after scan, even after you remove them!

I guess the bottom line is that you need more than one scanner! Just don’t leave “all “of them

running at the same time!

It’s kinda fun to see what you can catch , after a trip around the Internet.

“Anti Virus or me”?!?
I have never received damage du to a virus.
Let me say that a gain. I have never….you get the picture.
The only damage’s that I have received were caused by “me.”
Especially for me! Thanks to me; mostly me any way I think?
Most of the time it’s just dumb things we, (let get installed) on our computers.
Or install our self’s. So that stuff, is in kind of a different category. (“WHY”?) Ok,
“Because you gave it permission”. Now it has free rain, or run….We will get to that.
After the first part is done.
First we need to talk about (“Free Anti Virus”) and brands?
Free Soft ware and web based scanning systems are every where.
I use a number of different brands myself. But it only makes sense to have one anti virus running in the back ground! I use multiple scanners, but I turn them on and off when I want them. Every Antivirus program you install will want to auto run when you boot. As far as that goes, most programs in general want to start when you’re computer doe’s. More than one Anti Virus can make things work funny; sometimes. But not always.
(AVG) works good. My brother uses it.
I use (Avast). I like it better. http://www.avast.com/index.html
Use what ever Anti Virus you feel most comfortable using. (That way you will use it more often.)
Any way, if you don’t have a start up program manager, you need to get one.
You can pick the programs you want and uncheck the ones you don’t. (“Easy to use”)
You need the start up manager so you can uninstall unwanted programs that start and run when you boot the computer. (when they are running they can’t be uninstalled!)

After you weed out the programs that you don’t want. Run a (Mal-ware) scan.
(Spy-ware) scan and a Virus Scan. Do the first two scans as soon as you can.
This will keep un wanted programs that fall into these categories from reinstalling; “from temp~ folders or something like that”. (Just empty you’re temp~ internet folders). Pages will be reloaded fresh.(On dial up, it will slow you down for a little while. Not long.)
But on the up side of emptying the temp~ internet folder; Any bad installers set to install at boot will be gone!
Cookies? They will always put a new cookie on when you go back any way.
I take them off just to mess up their research!

If not thousands, of programs.
Then I have uninstalled almost that many.
And reinstalled and....Well you get the picture.

“These are all Open Source or free”.

Like the person that always knows its Bushes fault.
I heard a guy on the radio the other night who was convinced that the hurricanes were created by the new world order; headed up by the skull & bones whose leader is Bush. Kerry was even involved. “That one was pretty funny”, it’s hard to get mad at that kind of thinking. But clean it up just a bit and you can scare a whole planet into thinking it’s going to over heat.

It's time to do a little bit of Blogging.

I have so much fun doing this kinda stuff, it almost seams like you are doing something wrong! “I know I'm not”; well maybe?
I just like to find alternative soft ware and services to accomplish things for free.
Some things are better to pay for. You can get service that way!
This is one of my favorite finds; “well I like it”. It's called (Open Office 2.0)

“Good morning Blog Land”!

“I have been very busy”.
I'm trying to put together a domain to call my own. It's kinda a blast!
First I installed a message board. I call it, “thegate101.com”, Then I installed a multi Blog, I call it “BlogGate”. I have other sites that I'm working on too.
Ever since I got a computer, I have wanted to have my own site. Not only to have one, but I wanted to learn how to make one. So I did. Static web sites are the easiest and probably the the most rewarding to build. The Open Source Dynamic sites are the most interactive and fun to use. So I have integrated both styles/types into my domain.
I'm not selling anything yet. I don't even have google add sense up.
But I'm kinda in this Internet web thing just for fun now any way.
And I have learned one more thing.
“There is a such thing as writers block”!

Today I heard a very disturbing news story. This one was different. In the regards to the story intro. (“Usually when a cop shoots a crack head; holding his a gun and shielding him self behind a child”.) The media will let us know in no uncertain terms that the cop should have done a better job! There should be an investigation! What was the cop thinking! They should have been trained better! (“You get the picture”.) Today the story started out with an intro. “It made sure that we knew what a good job our air marshals were doing”. It also went into how well trained they were. (“They all come from police and military backgrounds don’t you know,” ect...) Then they tell of the news that happened. A man was shot and killed to day by air marshals (“did we tell you hoe well trained they are”.) The man had Bipolar disorder and was off his medication. (“How do they know this”?) The man was looking suspicious and was reaching into his bag apparently to detonate a bomb. (Or to show them his MEDS or his ID?) I have Bipolar disorder. I get agitated and nervous easily. (“Especially in crowds and unfamiliar places”.) Such as. (“Long lines, people looking in my smelly shoes, people complaining, you get the picture”.) So he was shot dead while traveling with his wife. “Just a Question”? Why can’t we profile on the genetic background of some one? But we can profile some one who looks nervous, scared and that is fidgeting around? How many terrorists bring their wives along? (“With his wife standing rite there with him!” “Shot dead.”) Now they are claiming that he said he had a bomb. ( I think he was “proclaiming” that he did not have a bomb.) Thank you A.C.L.U, thank you. (Just a thought from my Bipolar Roller Coaster.) …………………..(SW)

If you would indulge me just a moment; I would like to tell you a story. I went to a Catholic school. Seventh grade through the ninth. (How my mother managed to pay for this I will never know) Any way, her name was Sister Henreala. “She was cool”, but she was also the strictest most (seemingly cruel) Sister there. She was a huge foot ball fan and would talk the talk with the boys. (Before the morning bell rang) then it was all business! The group of boys who had just been talking ball (with their shirts UN tucked and shoes UN done) now received a very “stern” lesson in the proper way dress! That bell must have really hit her switch? (We went through this morning ritual daily) My favorite thing about her was the way she would chase kids (me included) down the hall and catch us too! Then we were slammed up against the lockers and held there for yet another lesson in hall way etiquette. I can here her voice in my mind as I am writing this. (HIP, HIP, NO RUNNING IN THE HALLS!!) But it was already too late, by then she already had the back of you’re shirt. “Stern but fun, mean but caring”. She was the most beloved teacher at the school, hands down! She was in her seventies then. I talk to people (alumni) in their fifties (that still remember her in that loving way); just like me.
